1. Saves me from having plugging and unplugging various equipments to my TV with limited inputs.
2. This unit performs "up conversion" from composite video to S-Video, very useful to me as I can leave my TV's S-Video setting to "on" in a mixed signal equipment setup (VCR and game consoles).
3. It also performs "down conversion" from S-Video to composite video.
4. The red light in the front panel lights up only if the selected input has an active video signal going in. It will not light up if the video signal is not present. Handy for troubleshooting.
5. If the switch does not detect signal from any of the 4 inputs, the RF out jack is switched to the ANT IN jack, serving as an antenna pass-through.

Cons:

1. The power plug has to be plugged in for the unit to work, even if you plan to use it only as a simple source switch.
2. The up / down conversion introduced slight ghosting and blurring problem to the video signal.
3. Front panel is ugly and looks cheap.
4. After using it for a while, you may wish you should've spend a few more dollars for an automatic-switching unit, or one that comes with a remote.

This unit is a decent value considering it can do S-video switching. The RF modulator is icing on cake that makes this unit even more flexible.
